August was just another “boring” month in the office – directional boring that is! The first phase in expanding our fiber network to the Atchison Amelia Earhart Airport was to do bore work. This is a specialized drilling technique used for installing conduit. The conduit is a plastic pipe that houses the fiber underground. The construction crew, Bob Hull Construction, started the bore work near the end spot at the Shannon Industrial Park and went to the Amelia Earhart Airport.

After the conduit was installed, the construction crew, Bob Hull Construction, strategically placed vaults along the path. The vaults purpose is to provide access to splice cable for drops that will go to a household or a business.

What's next? Installing the fiber into the conduit. Stay tuned for more construction progress!
