PRIMO Scholarships Available
November 16, 2009 - Three $500.00 scholarships are being offered through Rainbow Communications from PRIMO (Public Relations Independent Marketing Organization). PRIMO is an organization that was founded in 1992. The organization consists of the marketing and public relations employees of independent telecommunications companies across Kansas. Although the applications must be submitted to our location, Rainbow Communications does not get to select the three winners. Rainbow Communications will select the top two applications and then send them for consideration to the PRIMO Scholarship committee. The PRIMO Scholarship committee will review the top two scholarship applications from all member companies. Once the committee selects the winners, they will notify Rainbow Communications, in turn we will alert any winners in our area.
Any undergraduate student with a parent or guardian who currently has Rainbow Communications as a service provider is eligible for this scholarship. Preference is given to students choosing Marketing, Public Relations, or a telecommunications related field.
We ask that all applications be completed and submitted to Rainbow Communications by March 12, 2010. Applicants can mail their application to:
Rainbow Communications, Kelly Beach, 628 Oregon, Hiawatha, KS 66434
or drop it off at any Rainbow office. Applicants can also access the application on line at www.primomkt.com

The Scoop on the Digital Transition
July 2008 - Rainbow cable TV subscribers will not be affected by the transition to digital.
There has been much hype and some confusion concerning the February 17, 2009 deadline given by Congress to television stations to suspend broadcasting in analog. The era of analog broadcast television in the United States will end as the nation completes its transition to an all-digital system. While the change will mark the end of the transitional analog method of broadcasting over-the-air television, it won't signal the end of free broadcast television, and your favorite broadcast programs and local television stations will still be available.
However, people who have TV sets that rely on over-the-air broadcasting with an antenna (set-top or rooftop) to receive a signal will be affected and will need to consider one of the following options:
1. Subscribe to a cable, satellite or telecommunications service provider.
2. Purchase a digital-to-analog converter box that plugs into an existing television. The boxes, which are expected to cost between $40-$70 are available for purchase at selected retail stores. US households can request up to two coupons valued at $40 each to assist with the purchase of the converter boxes.
3. Purchase a new television set with a built in digital tuner.
